For more than 40 years I supported myself and my family as a commercial photographer. A PRINT photographer; a field that is now archaic. It was a great job, the best. I liked the people I worked for - usually art directors or creative directors for various ad agencies. Once established, I travelled the country and the world. I put three kids through college, and enjoyed a good life. I started this career in order to do my personal work, but there was much personal satisfaction in delivering assignments that exceeded expectations, always on deadline. Importantly, it also helped me develop craft. Having a camera in my hand almost every day, learning to quickly adapt to a situation and express it visually. With the advent of digital photography, I learned how to be my own lab and perfect an image to suit my vision. All the while getting paid for it.
